Teaching & Training

We work in partnership with Kingussie Medical Practice which participates in the undergraduate medical teaching programmes of both Aberdeen and Dundee Universities. Medical students regularly spend attachments in Kingussie gaining valuable clinical experience and therefore occasionally spend time in the Laggan practice too.  All consultations involving undergraduate students are actively supervised by Practice medical staff; however, if you do not wish to have a consultation involving a medical student, you can simply make the practice staff aware of this.

Kingussie Medical Practice is an established training practice and qualified doctors who are now studying GP Training as a speciality are also assigned to our practices for up to a year at a time, therefore these doctors may also work at Laggan Medical Practice during their time with us. Sometimes these doctors record videos of consultations for teaching purposes but your permission would always be sought in advance.

Staff Training

All our primary health care staff – doctors, nurses, reception staff, managers – have regular access to Protected Learning Time so they can develop, update and enhance their skills. To do this, in common with all the Medical Practices and other primary health care facilities in Inverness, Culloden, Aviemore, Grantown-on-Spey and Kingussie, we close, from 1pm, on an average of five afternoons per year. During these times, the usual Out of Hours services will be in operation for any medical emergencies.

Medical Students

Please take a look at what our practices and the beautiful area in which we are lucky to live and work can offer prospective students.
